Upcycling Project

January-May, 2018

Academic Project

I designed and built a coffee table using all discarded and reclaimed materials. Utilizing an old bulletin board as the table top, I sanded and refinished the back side of the bulletin board, then wrapped the board in mahogany wood to create a uniform edge. Then using old drain pipes and fittings I made adjustable legs and a sturdy frame for the table. I cut a sheet Plexiglass using a waterjet cutter to lay in the center of the table top above the wood. The table was initially designed in SolidWorks, and then fabricated using shop tools.

The bulletin board was wrapped in scraps of pine wood, and cut into picture frame joints at the corners.
